I love the back story from the Anishinaabe culture... I'm a big fan of turtles myself.
We have little freshwater turtles here, and I regularly save them from being run over on our local roads - screeching to a halt, jumping out and running back to carry them from the side they have left to the side they are headed for.
Ha! Well I'm turtlely delighted to be sharing this island with them.
They are shy, ungainly, strange little creatures. At the first sign of threat they retract entirely within their shell but if you peer inside you can see a little yellow eye looking back at you.
As a decided introvert myself, I feel a strong affinity with them. I'm better at crossing a road than they are, but drop me into a party and I too retract entirely within my shell.
I love all seasons when they arrive. Apart from winter. Loving this write.
My favorite month is definitely fall. I love the cooling temps and beautiful colors!
capturing why May feels sacred and sensuous.
The daffodil is my favorite, for its sunny yellow colors & its early spring arrival.
Happy Springtime, Susan!
