About 15 years ago, after 27 months of being homeless, I finally had somewhere to live: tenants, who had been renting my old condo, gave me their notice and I moved in.
I absolutely loved it. But, as life happens, that new flooring in that entire hallway and half the bedroom heaved 6 months later when the weeping tiles below my apartment cracked and had to be redone! I managed to save enough boards (along with spares I had) to redo the bedroom but we ended up putting ceramic tile in the hallway. Then I wasn’t able to sell for another 5 years (which meant I got to enjoy the renos for awhile)

The old parquet certainly had some texture and history happening, but yeah - a big improvement.
